Rice Lake Weighing Systems strives to nurture sustainable communities without diminishing the opportunities of future generations. Supplier social compliance standards are a vital pillar of Rice Lake’s Trade Compliance Program. These standards are driven by the belief that good corporate citizenship is essential to our long-term business success and must be reflected in our relationships and actions in our workplaces and the workplaces of those who are authorized to directly supply our business.
Current and ongoing initiatives at Rice Lake include:
California Proposition 65
Rice Lake Weighing Systems wishes to be proactive to Proposition 65 and provide information about the products we produce, distribute and use to manufacture equipment we sell. One or more chemicals included in the California Proposition 65 list may be present in Rice Lake Weighing Systems products and workplaces. To see Rice Lake Weighing Systems full statement, visit Rice Lake Weighing Systems Proposition 65 Statement.
Rice Lake Weighing Systems considers mining activities that fuel conflict as unacceptable. As a privately held corporation, we are not subject to the Dodd-Frank rules; however, as a supplier to many publicly traded companies, Rice Lake has developed trade compliance standards requiring our vendors to verify the inclusion of any concerned minerals in products supplied to Rice Lake Weighing Systems.
Audits are preformed to evaluate supplier compliance with company standards, and verification is periodically completed through an annual self-assessment. Any discrepancies are immediately reported to our publicly traded business partners as part of their ongoing efforts for compliance.
Human Trafficking & Slavery
Rice Lake Weighing Systems deplores the use of child and slave labor, and all forms of human trafficking.
This position is communicated to our suppliers. Audits are preformed to evaluate supplier compliance with company standards for trafficking and slavery in supply chains, and verification is periodically completed through independent audits and/or self- and/or Rice Lake Weighing Systems assessments. Our suppliers are expected to certify that they use only materials in their products that comply with the laws regarding slavery and human trafficking of the country in which they are doing business.
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS)
Rice Lake desires to pursue knowledge and practices that can lead to more environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible decisions and lifestyles, which can help protect the environment and sustain its natural resources for current and future generations.
This vision is communicated to our suppliers. Audits are preformed to evaluate supplier compliance with company standards, and verification is periodically completed through an annual self-assessment. Our suppliers are expected to eliminate the use of expanded polystyrene foam packaging materials and certify that they use only environmentally friendly packaging materials.
Rice Lake Weighing Systems provides training to its employees and management who have direct responsibility for supply chain management for all of its social responsibility initiatives with a focus on identifying and mitigating risk.
