Rice Lake Introduces ADA-compliant Healthweigh® Scale
Rice Lake, Wis.—In Rice Lake Weighing Systems’ continued efforts to provide safe, inclusive scales, we’ve designed the Healthweigh 350-ADA-1. The 350-ADA-1 wheelchair scale meets the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. It is built for patients of all mobility levels, featuring ramps and a handrail for patient stability.
The ADA regulates medical equipment to make sure disabled patients can have a comfortable experience at healthcare facilities. This includes regulating wheelchair-accessible scales. For a scale to be ADA compliant, it must have a certain platform width, depth, slope and edge protection on the ramps and platform.
By August 9, 2026, every public healthcare facility must have at least one ADA-compliant scale, or 10% of all diagnostic equipment must meet ADA requirements.
The 350-ADA-1 exceeds ADA standards so all patients can safely be weighed, regardless of mobility. Its compact and foldable design makes it easy to store and keeps spaces open. With integrated wheels, it can be moved to different rooms to weigh patients where it’s most convenient for them. To provide the best patient care, the 350-ADA-1 features:
- 40-inch-wide weighing platform
- 1:8 gentle ramp slope
- 35-inch handrail
- 2-inch edge protection
